Fix Your Crooked Smile
Did you know that having straight teeth will improve your oral health? They make brushing and flossing more effective and efficient. When your teeth are crooked or crowded, it can be harder to remove food that gets stuck between them. Over time, this can lead to tooth decay or gum disease.
What Are Braces?
If you have crooked or crowded teeth, or if you suffer from another type of orthodontic issue such as a crossbite or overbite, Dr. Gioia may recommend braces. This restorative method is securely attached to the front of your teeth using small brackets, thin wires, and various connecting pieces.
Today’s braces are a lot less conspicuous than they used to be. They’re even customizable and they come in a variety of colors and materials. Braces are a trusted solution to correct your smile.
How Do Braces Work?
Braces are customized to each patient depending on the level of restoration needed. Each bracket and wire is precisely placed for maximum effectiveness. These elements work together to gradually shift your teeth to the perfect alignment.
The process begins when Dr. Gioia attaches the brackets to your teeth using dental adhesive. Bands and spacers are then attached to the brackets to add pressure and help your jaw align properly. Lastly, wires are connected to the brackets to fully adjust your teeth and jaw.
Over time, your braces will pull everything into place, leaving you with impeccably straight teeth.
The Benefits of Braces
Your teeth affect several aspects of your life, and crooked or misaligned teeth can cause issues with your health and appearance. Braces offer a variety of advantages to improve your life:
- Provide you with a straight smile
- Correct your misaligned jaw
- Boost your self-confidence
